On The Tip Of Your Toes ONESHOT 2/2
I just wanted to say, thanks so much for all the amazing feedback I got for the first part of this, y'all are amazing:) I have two banners cause this was the one I wanted, the photo of Hayley wasn't quite right, and it was all weird, but I've made it now:) And I'm sorry, this was meant to go up ages ago, but Buzznet deleted some of it urgh...
Josh watches as Hayley rummages throuh her locker for a lost chemistry hotter Mr Dower insisted she found. A frown is ever growing on her pretty face. Frustration is building in her- the book is nowhere to be found.
He feels a tug on his arm and turns round to find Daphne angrily glaring at him. 'What are you doing?' she hisses, still holding tightly onto his sleeve. 'You hate Hayley!'
He chuckles. 'She's actually really nice when you get to know her.'
'What happened to you? It's like she's completely brainswashed you or something! You always used to say how much you hate her, how stuck up she is and now all of a sudden, you're best friends with her!'
'Perhaps she has brainwashed me,' Josh replies in an infurating manner. 'How am I supposed to know if I'm the one she's completely brainwashed?'
Daphne rolls her eyes. 'Josh-I... Seriously, stop being so stupid! You're acting like you're best friends!'
'You've already said that,' he points out.
She shrugs. 'Perhaps I have to repeat everything before it goes into that head of yours.'
'But it's okay, we're not best friends,' he clarifies, ignoring the jibe. 'We're going out.'
She almost chokes on thin air. 'What?' she yells, catching other people's attention.
'We're dating,' he says simply.
She glares at him. 'But... but... but Josh! You- you don't even like her! You hate her! You can't be going out with her! Anyways, she's not the type of person to have a boyfriend! I thought she preferred being single and then doing whatever she wanted with whoever she wanted!'
'Daphne,' Josh says tiredly. 'Why are you causing such a scene about it? I really can't deal with this right now.'
She bites her lip. 'You're lying.'
He chuckles. 'No, Daphne, I'm not lying. I do go out with Hayley. Why would I lie about going out with her? There'd be no point in that.'
Hayley turns round and notices the pair of them arguing. 'Daphne,' she says loud enough for the gathering crowd to hear. 'Do I need to spell it out for you? He doesn't like you!'
Daphne turns to look at her, her face reddening. 'Nobody asked your opinion!'
She smirks. 'Okay, sure thing, honey. I'll keep my mouth shut, which really makes sense, seeing as I'm his girlfriend, so you should keep your hands off, but one quick thing first. I really love your red hoodie, and I love that you've colour- coordinated it with your face. It's a great combo,' she turns back to her locker.
'What a- Hayley!' Daphne eylls.
Hayley turns round, smiling sweetly. 'Yes?'
'How dare you? And you don't deserve him! He's a lot better than you,' she snarls.
She laughs. 'Oh, Daphne, grow up, will you? We all know you're obsessed with him, but infortunately for you, it's not mutual.'
'I'm not obsessed!'
A cold laugh escapes Hayley's lips. 'Oh, ofcourse not,' her voice is laced with sarcasm.
Josh watches the scence unfold, his eyes wide.
'I am not! You're the one that made me swap in biology,' Daphne snarls.
Hayley laughs. 'I didn't make you swap, it was Josh that switched seats.'
'You made me ask,' she insists.
She rolls her eyes. 'Rubbish.'
Daphne's eyes narrow. 'Stop lying!' she yells, losing her temper.
'What are you talking about?' Hayley smirks, knowing she has the upper hand.
Her lip curls in rage. 'Hayley Williams with her back against the wall. Not so queen-like now, eh? And those clothes! I mean, who on earth wrote security on that top?' she laughs, looking at Hayley's yellow tank top spitefully.
Hayley laughs. 'Actually, Josh did it.'
Daphne looks lost as panic sets in. She's been having an argument with Hayley because of Josh, and ended up insulting something that he did, which was actually pretty good, she had to admit. 'I...'
'I think that means I've won,' Hayley smirks and turns back to her locker.
Laughter rises from the crowd of onlookers as Daphne's already burning face goes positively betroot. She turns to Josh, who rolls his eyes and joins Hayley at her locker. Fuming, Daphne storms away, trying desperately to stop the tears pouring down her face.
'Josh!' Hayley suddenly yelps, holding a big red jotter above her head. 'I found it!'
He grins. 'Finally!'
'It took me ages,' she groans, shoving it in her bag. 'And Daphne came and started that stupid and pathetic argument,' she slams her locker shut. 'I mean, what is her problem?'
'Aww, poor you,' he pecks her on the lips.'
'Come back here,' she takes his shoulders and slowly, gently works her lips against his.
Josh wraps his arms around her and his hand creeps down to her bum.
A fizzing sensation runs through Hayley as she realises that she likes Josh. But he doesn't actually like her, does he? This is all just pretend.
Right?
He gently pulls back as the bell rings. 'See you later, trouble,' he smiles and walks off to his next class.
*
'Are you joking?' Hayley says loudly.
Josh frowns. 'What is it?'
'She's actually following us,' she rolls her eyes.
He turns round and notices Daphne walking a little way behind them. 'What... she lives on the other side of town!;
Daphne glances up and notices them staring at her. Her face reddens and she stops walking immediately.
'Pathetic,' Hayley mutters, looking down at their fingers laced togehter.
Josh bites his lip. 'Um, I kinda feel bad for her.'
'Don't,' she rolls her eyes.
He sighs and runs a hand through his short brown hair. 'Okay, I just...'
'Josh,' she looks at him. 'Don't beat yourself up over the fact you don't like her. She'll get over it, everyone does. It'll be fine.'
He nods, squeezing her hand. It suddenly occurs to him how natural this feels, how much he likes it. He glances up and bites his lip, noticing they're nearing her house now.
Hayley's mind is buzzing. She feels that sensation again and knows that she really does like him.
They stop outside Hayley's house and look at each other.
'I'll come to your's before school tomorrow, then,' Joshs smiles and plants a ghost of a kiss on her cheek. 'Bye,' he calls over his shoulder as he walks off twoards his house.
Hayley watches him leave with a twisted expression. This is so messed up. Why are they pretending to go out?
A thought forms in her head and she races down the pavement after him, her bag bagning against her leg. 'Josh!' she screams, 'Josh!'
He turns round, hearing her yelling his name. 'Yeah?'
'Wait!' she cries breathlessly as she hurries to catch up with him.
A frown appears on his face as she reaches him. 'Where's the fire, hmm? What's the matter, Hayles?'
'Josh,' she pants. 'Why are we doing this?'
This increases his confusion. 'Why are we doing what?'
'Why are we faking it? I mean, why don't we just make it real? Will... will you go out with me for real, Josh?' she asks.
A big grin replaces the frown on his face. 'Of course I will, Hayles!' he leans forwards and crashes his lips against hers.
