Your Biggest Mistake 25
I can't believe this is almost finished! I'm gunna miss it:(
Anger runs through me as her words bounce around in my head. 'No!' I yell at her. 'That's my baby! That's my baby you're killing!'
She frowns. 'Hey, it's mine too!'
'Then don't kill it!' I roar, staring right into her eyes.
Hayley sighs. 'You really, really want it, don't you?' her voice is quiet, almost defeated.
'Yes,' I say softly. 'I'm attatched already.'
She passes a hand across her eyes. 'Just give me a while, okay?'
I try not to grin and keep a straight face. 'Awesome.'
'Oh, just throw the party,' she says tiredly.
I laugh and wrap my arms around her. 'Thank you, Hayles. You'll thank me one day.'
'Will I?' she raises her eyebrows, genuine question in her voice.
I nod enthusiastically. 'Yes you will, I promies. If not... you can come and get your money back.'
Hayley bursts out laughing. 'Yup, I'll come and get my money back on a baby.'
'You couldm' I shrug. 'Maybe you could try it.'
She smirks. 'We'll see.'
'Anyways, happy birthday, Hayles,' I grab a bag off the couch.
She rolls her eyes. 'I didn't want a birthday present. You know I hate that kind of stuff,' she moans, glaring at me, crossing her arms over her chest.
'Just take it,' I sigh, shoving it at her.
Rolling her eyes, she grudgingly accepts it. 'But it's just been Christmas, Alex. It's not fair on you.'
'Yes it is. It's fine,' I shake my head. 'You're impossible, you know that?'
Hayley bites her lip as she carefully takes the bag away. 'Alex!' she yells angrily, whipping round to face me, her eyes smouldering. 'What are you doing? That's way too expensive! I won't have it!'
'Just take it,' I roll my eyes. 'Let's be honest, I'm not exactly all that short of money. It's not like I'm begging on the street, Hayles.'
She winces. 'You will be, if this continues. But if I take this one, you'll just keep giving them to me!'
'I won't,' I shake my head. 'Please, just have it. I figured you probably don't have enough space on your phone.'
She glances down at the iPod Classic lying in the palm of her hands. 'Alex, please never get something as expensive as this. Please.'
I shrug. 'I don't see the problem, but okay.'
Hayley suddenly wraps her thin arms around me. 'Thank you,' she mumbles into my chest.
I laugh softly. 'It's honestly fine, Hayles. I promise.'
'Alex,' she glances at me, her eyes troubled. 'I'm scared.'
I frown. 'Scared?'
She nods. 'Yeah, I'm scared. I'm scared that if I have the baby, something will go wrong, but if I don't have the baby, I might loose you and it's really stressing me out!'
'Baby,' I murmur, gently stroking her cheek. 'If you have the baby, I'll be there every step of the way, making sure everything goes to plan, I promise.'
'No,' Hayley shakes her head. 'You shouldn't have to cance all your tours and stuff, just to make sure I'm okay. It's not fair on you, the guys, or the fans.'
I smile, just looking at her concerned face for a moment. She always thinks of everybody else. 'You're adorable, you know that?'
She throws me a withering look. 'Really, Alex. Of all the things you could have sad about me, you chose adorable?'
'Well yeah,' I frown. 'Of course I did, cause you are. You always think of everyone else, and worry about their problems for them. I hadn't even thought about our tours.'
'Alex, you're the one that always worries about me! But you have to go on these tours, okay? I won't allow you to cancel your stuff for me, okay?' she tells me fiercely.
I chuckle. 'Okay, I won't. So long as you're sure.'
There's a pause and I glance at her as I suddenly realise something. 'Hayley,' I say slowly. 'You're talking as though you've decided that you do want the baby, after all.'
She laughs suddenly. 'I was wondering how long it would take you to realise that.'
'So you do?' I yell excitedly. 'You actually want the baby?'
'Yes!' she laughs.
I pick her up and spin her round, laughing.
'Alex!' Hayley shouts. 'Put me down! Alex! Aaah!' she cries when I keep spinning her round. 'Put me down now!'
Smirking, I chuck her on the sofa laughing as she squeals in protest. 'Ow,' she moans, glaring at me. 'I'm pregnant. You have to be careful with me!'
I grin. 'We're going to be parents, Hayles! Parents!'
'You sound like a five year old, waiting to get their birthday present,' she tells me witheringly. 'But I'm kinda stoked too!'
I laugh. 'Yeah, I'm so excited.'
'I can tell,' she smirks before a frown suddenly replaces it. 'But, Alex. How's it going to work, if we're both away touring? Who'll look after the baby when we're away?'
I bite my lip. 'I'm not sure, but we'll figure something out.'
'Should I ring the guys?' Hayley asks.
I glance outside. 'I was gunna go to Jack's house and tell him, actually. Do you wanna go to Josh's and tell him you've changed your mind?' I suggest.
She nods enthusiastically. 'Yeah, I'm ready to go.'
We leave the house and I sprint aloing the road to Jack's. The pavement is still slippery, because of the ice. Excitement is threatening to bubble over as I race up the garden path. 'Jack!' I holler, letting myself into his house, as I have done for all the years I've known him.
He comes running down the stairs. 'What is it?'
'Hayley said yes!' I yell.
He frowns. 'Wait, what? You didn't tell me you'd proposed to her! When did that happen, hmm?'
'No, no, no!' I laugh. 'That's not it!'
Jack laughs. 'Ah, okay! I was getting really confused there-'
'Jack, you're stealing my limelight!' I moan. 'I haven't said my piece yet.'
He rolls his eyes. 'Then hurry up and get it out, you idiot! What are you waiting for?'
'I'm gunna be a Dad!' I announce proudly.
He gapes at me for a minute. 'But, but, but you told me that you weren't sleeping with her!'
I burst out laughing. 'That was ages ago, dude! Before we started going out all over again. But was that seriously all you could think about?'
'Yeah, it was actually. You know how my mind works, Alex. That's always guaranteed to be one of the things that crops up in here,' he taps the side of his ehad.
'That's true,' I agree, laughing.
Jack grins goofily at me. 'But, anyways, congratulations, dude.'
'Thanks,' I smile, excitement running through me.
